Vendor Set and training / certification Multi vendor skill is an advantage Main vendors of interest at this time are: Network Appliance; candidate should have experience of implementation and support, of the current models, preferably including VTL and should have vendor training and be certified to NCIE, NCDA or close.
Symantec and Altiris, experience of implementation and support of availability products. NetBackup, Enterprise Vault, Veritas Cluster Services and Storage Foundation are the prime products but Backup Exec, and security are also interesting. Ideally candidate will have taken TSPP training and supported end users under this program.
The only relevant certification from Symantec is SCP (Symantec Certified Professional), which would guarantee the candidate an interview. HDS, experience of either or both modular and enterprise systems with especial reference to the relevant HDS software for configuration and replication. SUN Microsystems, Certification and experience in implementation and support of SUN server and storage hardware, including both Storagetek and LSI are interesting as are SUN cluster implementation, configuration and support.
For these products, SUN Solaris certification is a requirement, at version 10, (admin 1, admin 2 and network admin). Other Vendors; experience, training and / certification in any of IBM, VMWare, Oracle, HP, Dell, EMC, StorageTek, Quantum, Brocade, Oracle, Cisco, Microsoft, HuaweiSymantec products and many others are all an advantage Experience and general relevant knowledge
The successful applicant will have strong technical skills with experience of implementing his product set in various environments both of operating system and vendor. Detailed knowledge of operating systems, security, networking, SAN technologies and an awareness of best practises and principles of operation, administration and support in the data centre are all important, as are those related to backup, replication, migration and disaster recovery. No preferences in age, sex, marital status, nationality or creed. Having said that, it is useful for at least some of the team members to hold passports ( for example European) which have free access to all of the countries in the region, free of special visa issues. All applicants should be aware that English language is the chosen language of the industry and the company, so they should be totally fluent and able to express them selves clearly in it, both spoken and written. Work experience in the region is an advantage. Candidate should state clearly if he has any difficulties with working in any of the countries in the region, apart from those of personal security which is one of our constant concerns. The individual should be a team player who has shown some stability in employment. Educational qualification is not of special interest except in so far as it affects the issuance of visas, relevant training and experience being the decisive factors.
