A Major LNG Operator is looking for a Telecommunications Engineer to join them on an 18 month contract in Qatar.
o Knowledge of telecommunication installations in hazardous area and experience in reviewing and monitoring project telecommunications design on the basis of area classifications.
o Monitoring Contractor's performance and providing advice as necessary to make certain that design philosophy and specifications are achieved.
o Monitoring Contractor's and vendors' quality control effort.
o Participate in testing of all systems mentioned above. Follow up with project team and contractor for any outstanding issues/punch items. Liaise with project team/contractor for early completion of systems for use by operations for commissioning and startup activity.
o Actively involved in handover from contractor. Make sure relevant documentation, software media/licenses, special tools, programming units are handed over to company.
o Providing start-up and commissioning support to company
o Trouble shooting and system maintenance to ensure maximum availability of system
o Coordinate handover of systems to permanent organisation. Prepare relevant handover dossiers.
o Raise warranties and provide details to contractor for telecom systems as required and liaise with contractor/vendor for early resolution of warranty issues.
Suitable candidates will have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a minimum of fifteen (15) years technical experience in telecommunication discipline with minimum five (5) years specific involvement in projects for major process facilities. Experience with contractors and worldwide suppliers, in particular those involves in the construction of major onshore facilities, in building telecommunication system for major LNG facilities. Experience with (PA/GA) System, Telephone and Hotlines System, (CCTV) System, UHF and VHF Radio Systems, Communications Network And Cabling, Ship to Shore Telephone / Emergency Shutdown (ESD) System. Good written and verbal communication skills; Good technical team skills; Technical understanding of state-of-the-art Telecommunication system and information system technology.
On offer is a competitive day rate with accommodation and transport allowances, available on a single status (12x2 weeks rotation) or married status (32 days annual leave) on an 18 month, 6 work days per week contract.
