In conjunction with the Chief Credit Officer (CCO), maintain the quality of the PB, Islamic and Institutional credit portfolios in line with Bank policies to minimize problem accounts and losses to the Bank.
Recommend improvements and changes to the Bankâs Credit Policies.
In conjunction with the CCO, develop portfolio MIS and metrics to manage the Bankâs credit portfolio more effectively.
Develop the skill-sets for the PB, Islamic and Institutional analysts and greater credit awareness amongst the PB, Islamic and Institutional relationship managers.
Accountabilities
Analysing credit; approving/declining proposals; recommending to higher authorities for Islamic PB, Banks and other entities required for balance sheet management (DD & Co, Bunge).
Ensure external regulatory issues and internal credit policies are met in all credit proposals, including adherence to single borrower ceilings, commercial real estate ceilings.
Have an overview of the portfolio of Pvt Bank, Islamic Bank and Institutional in respect of exposure to individual industries/sectors; be aware of the local market.
Ensure all credit applications are approved by authorized credit approvers holding adequate credit authority discretions; make certain that all required approvals/ratifications of Board/ECC are obtained.
Managing a team of two or more. Interacting with Islamic, Institutional and Private Bank teams for their credit requirements.
Interact with internal audit and regulatory audit for their various requirements and address their concerns on aspects of our credit policies and procedures and their implementation.
Ensure that specific provisions for their portfolio responsibilities are kept within reasonable limits and recoveries are followed up.
Get up to speed with SME lending as and when Bank decides to introduce the products/sectors.
In conjunction with the Manager of Corporate Credit, interact with internal stakeholders/IT and external vendors to develop and introduce a robust platform for MIS to monitor the portfolio.
Organize bank limits on an annual basis taking into account the requirements of Treasury and Trade Finance Departments; overview the daily data sheet of Treasury back office containing the excesses in Treasury products and FX open positions and investment details; overview the irregularity reports of various banks where Treasury or Bank limits have been exceeded; arrange for approvals of excess bank limits required by Treasury and Trade Finance.
Provide/look for solutions for systems related problems like repayment installments culminating into a balloon payment, interest accruals not tallying with profits, etc.
Liaise with lawyers to finalise legal documents related to specific transactions and also general security documents related to Credit.
Coordinate with Private Banking and Islamic Banking for recoveries including negotiating with borrowers and liaising with lawyers.
When needed sits in for Senior Credit officer - Corporate Banking.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Knowledge & Skills, Education & Experience
Education Qualification, Training & Certifications
Post Graduate in Finance/MBA and/or credit training at a major international bank
Credit Risk Management Certification
Previous Work Experience
8-10 years of banking experience. Proven ability to recommend lending policies and procedures as per requirements within the framework of risk and enforce adherence of all stake holders to such policies and procedures
3 years experience in the Middle East.
Familiarity with Islamic banking.

High degree of IT literacy and knowledge of the core banking system
