Building Affairs Advisor â Doha, Qatar
We are sourcing a Building Affairs Advisor who will be responsible for strategic direction, leadership and day to day management of the Public Buildings Strategic Business Unit for a Government Authority in Doha.
The successful candidate will: - Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the SBU and develop/implement systems and procedures to improve the operating quality/effectiveness of the unit. - Have overall responsibility for the development of continuous improvement plans to strategically enhance the performance of the Public Buildings SBU
Key tasks and duties include: - Work within the limits of authority as defined by the CEO - Participate at an organisation level to assist in developing the organisation strategic direction, budget and prioritisation of the operational plans. - Liaise closely with the Department Directors for developing the strategic direction, short and long term plan and prioritisation of the projects for the Public Buildings SBU aligned to business strategy. - Provide effective leadership and management within the SBU and ensures staff understands and embraces the corporate vision and strategy. - Implement the preferred Public Buildings SBU structure â reviews as appropriate to ensure continued relevance for the organisation in light of changing circumstances. - Continually reviews SBU priorities and plans making appropriate adjustments to reflect changes in internal and external environments. - Monitor and review progress of SBU against the short and long term plan and initiate remedial action as required ensuring adherence of projects to deadlines and achievement of business development objectives and targets. - Has overall responsibility for the budget of the SBU, quality of the projects and adherence to deadlines by in-house staff and outsourced consultants. - Operate personnel policies and procedures and performance management processes for his/her team and ensures its application across the SBU. Ensures that an overall SBU plan to provide training opportunities for SBU personnel is established. Keeps abreast of technical developments, relevant regulations and industry best practice. - In conjunction with the COO, agrees and establishes relevant performance targets for the SBU, ensuring that they are realistic and support the objectives of the authority. - Align prioritisation of public buildings projects in consultation with the respective Directors and COO to ensure maximum synergy in execution of projects.
We are looking for a candidate with at least 15 years experience in a Government Authority / Agency or a Construction Management background and should have previously held Director level positions. Preference will be given to those who have a Masters degree and Membership of a Professional Body.
