System Analyst Electricity Holding Company (EHC) Muscat, Oman Ref: KP185-04 Electricity Holding Company (EHC) The Role The Role Purpose: To monitor, manage and maintain the database and applications and trouble shoot the technical issues for EHC and the subsidiaries within the framework of EHC systems, polices and processes, with an objective of providing effective and optimal service to the users of the ERP system. ACCOUNTABILITIES People The incumbent is expected to play a part in: Maintaining a safe work environment. Continuous improvement and innovation within the team. The sharing of technical knowledge and information. Developing and improving own personal effectiveness. Scheduling The incumbent is expected to: Manage and maintain database and applications which have been deployed at EHC or its user site. Make the best use of assigned resources to meet planned outputs. Manage own work in order to ensure strategic objectives are achieved Technical Technical accountabilities are as follows: Carry out regular database and all application backup and recovery to ensure maintenance of critical data and safe retrieval when required Facilitate in the development of relevant reports using XML publisher or discoverer and oracle developer tools as per the requirements of the end users Carry out different tasks such as data upload, customization in order to meet the requirement of application enhancement Manage system administration of the applications Address all the technical concerns raised by the users in an effective manner Facilitate and conduct user level training programs to ensure the optimum usage of existing applications Provide technical and functional support to end users Develop and maintain the technical documentation related to the application development Interaction: Internal Manager Business Support Senior System Analyst Manager IT operations External Outsourcing Partners Requirements Requirements CAPABILITIES: Technical/Professional Knowledge Excellent written and verbal communication skills Relationship building Knowledge of ERP Systems Knowledge of database management and application development for oracle ERP is essential EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS Must be a Computer Engineer or have a degree in Information Technology It is highly essential that the incumbent possess knowledge of oracle ERP and prior experience in Oracle ERP support The incumbent should be a Oracle certified professional for DBA and Developer Should also possess the relevant Certification in Oracle ERP EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE At least 3 4 years IT experience is essential. Knowledge of Oracle ERP systems is essential. About the Company About the Company The Electricity Holding Company (EHC) was established by the Law for the Regulation and Privatisation of the Electricity and Related Water Sector (the Sector Law) promulgated by Royal Decree 78/2004 that came into effect on 1 May 2005. EHC has significant responsibilities to support and implement the Governments privatisation policies for the Sector, including a responsibility to encourage private sector participation in electricity and related water projects and activities in the Sultanate of Oman. The Electricity Holding Company is located in Al Qurum and currently employs around eighty Omani and expatriate staff, of which around 30 are transferred from the Ministry as part of the restructuring process.
