Head of Legal: Job Details Our client was created a year and a half ago and was given the responsibilities for the electricity and water sector.
Specific policy issues currently being addressed by the company in respect of electricity include: 1.      Implementation of renewable energy policies 2.      Implementation of a large scale solar power project 3.      Energy efficiency programmes and policy setting 4.      Privatisation of electricity sector companies   In respect of the water sector, the company remains responsible for almost all (potable) water sector activities, including: 1.      Water production 2.      Water transmission 3.      Water distribution and water supply  The company undertakes a number of activities that involve legal skills and generally relies on external local and international law firms to provide support.  They intends to create an in-house legal capability to reduce this dependence and to assist with the reform of the sector. Â
 The successful candidate is expected to be a qualified lawyer fluent in English. Knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage.  The successful candidate would most likely have experience in the energy industry, preferable in the water and electricity utility environment. Reviewing and drafting policy papers and documents to support renewable energy projects, energy efficiency and privatisation, as required, in the electricity sector Providing contracts support in a number of areas including O&M contracts, capital works contracts and advisory services contracts. The successful candidate will be expected to work on a number of projects concurrently and should be experienced and competent in presenting complex issues in a concise manner to the highest level of management.
