The Role

The Role RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and supervise the day-to-day operation of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) company with about 50 operational and administrative staff;

• Coordinate the different O&M departments (operations, maintenance, administration) in their day-to-day operation;

• Manage all important communication and coordination with the Client as well as to the relevant Omani authorities (Port Authority, Environmental and Occupational Safety authority, etc.), including attending regular meetings;

• Manage and decide on all major human resource issues including training, hiring of new staff, taking disciplinary measures and lay-out of staff;

• Ensure, that all contractual obligations of the O&M company towards the client and its customers are met;

• Take overall responsibility – with the assistance of the Health & Safety Officer – of a sound and safe operation of all company operations and ensure, that all health & safety measures and legal regulations are adhered to;

• Regularly meet and coordinate with the heads of maintenance and operations to discuss and decide on all major maintenance and operational and human resource issues of the company;

• Take overall responsibility of company budget planning – with the assistance of the companies accountant – to ensure a proper financial management of the company;

• Attend and report regularly to the companies board of directors and implement the general strategic decisions issued by the board;

• Constantly identify and implement strategies to improve economic and technical performance of the company and ensure a high level of Client and Customer satisfaction;

• In case of major emergencies be on-call available and make – together with the heads of maintenance and operation – decisions to mitigate harm and impact on the health and safety of staff and third persons and on own or foreign property;

• Supervise all subcontractors and ensure their compliance with their contractual obligations as well as their timely payment and compensation;

• Make major procurement decisions in close coordination with the procurement officer and the involved departments;

• Ensure that company adheres to all applicable laws and regulations in force at the site; Requirements

Requirements SKILLS:

• 5 years working experience in water or wastewater sector

• In total 10 years of management experience thereof at least 5 years senior management

• Experience including contractual and financial management, administrative and human resources management

• Recognised academic qualification (University Degree in business administration or similar; additional degree in water and wastewater management or civil engineering, mechanical engineering or environmental engineering is an advantage)

• Good leadership skills

• Good time and work load management skills

• Good strategic management and planning skills

• Good communication and presentation ability

• Good inter-personal and negotiation skills

• Good conflict handling skills

• Good business ethics and financial understanding

• Computer literate (MS Word / Excel / Power point )
