pand Merchandising Manager Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids Alshaya Kuwait Ref: GP435-728 Alshaya The Role The Role With more than 17,000 employees and 1,700 stores, Alshaya is spearheading the expansion of more than 50 world-class leading retail pands such as Debenhams, Express, Mothercare, Starbucks, Mac, The Body Shop, H&M, Dean & Deluca and Boots in 17 countries across the Middle East, North Africa, Central and Eastern Europe and Russia. Alshaya is delighted to have the opportunity to introduce Williams-Sonoma, Inc. portfolio of pands to the Middle East. William-Sonoma, Inc. is a specialty retailer of high quality products for the home throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The first four stores are expected to open in Dubai and Kuwait in 2010 and will include the Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids pands. To realise its highly ambitious and aggressive expansion plan, the company is currently looking for a pand Merchandising Manager with a strong retail experience. Based in Kuwait, the pand Merchandising Manager provides overview, leadership and direction to support functions for all aspects of business planning, pand management and merchandising. Reporting to the Vice President, the pand Merchandising Manager is responsible for planning and maximising the sales and profit contribution of the pand. He is accountable for achieving margin targets and ensuring the pand is appropriately represented and portrayed in all operating markets. The pand Merchandising Manager is also responsible to champion the pand effectively by ensuring the right stock is in the right place at the right time, which leads to maximisation of sales and profit margins and achievement of agreed targets. Requirements Requirements * Negotiate positioning of pand, including product ranges, development, pricing and competitiveness. * Decide financial sales plans and reforecast for new stores. * Decide pricing for all stock within the pand. * Decide buying plans, phasing, allocation, replenishment and promotional stock needs. * Develop relationship between Company and Host pand. * Recruit, coach and mentor team as necessary. * Ensure team understands pand proposition and provide product knowledge where applicable * Develop internal & external relationships where necessary to benefit the business. * Degree level education. * Excellent Numerical / analytical Skills * Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in retail in a senior role with a good mix of merchandising, product development, operations and marketing * Excellent knowledge of merchandising tools and practices * Excellent leadership and strong ability to build relationships * Strong commercial orientation * Energetic, enthusiastic & creative.
