Responsibility: * Business Plans & Budgets: Organise and coordinate the preparation of business plans and budgets in liaison with the operational units/departments, providing necessary data, framework and assistance to business units in the development of business plans * Assist management and unit heads in review of budget assumptions by analysing budget submissions vis-Ã -vis group strategies and objectives and providing suitable reports thereon for management decision-making. * Compile final business plans and budgets for submission to the Board for approval * Performance Reporting: Review, analyse and report on performance of various operating units and business lines, relating the performance to prevailing market conditions and budget assumptions. * Provide analysis of technical performance of reinsurance departments by underwriting and financial year against budgets. * Support rating agency review through provision of suitable analysis and reports. Ensure timely submission of periodic financial returns to regulatory authorities and suitable reports for other stakeholders such as stock exchanges and other authorities. * Ensure suitable analysis and reports on operating costs incurred by departments and units compared to approved budgets and utilisation of capital expenditure budgets. * Ensure timely submission of periodic financial returns to regulatory authorities and suitable reports for other stakeholders such as stock exchanges and other authorities. * Cost Accounting: Implement suitable cost accounting procedures to ensure appropriate allocation of costs to operating departments/units enabling proper performance assessment and decision making. * Documentation: Ensure proper documentation and filing of records in compliance with the department procedures. * Policies & Procedures: Periodically review policies, procedures & systems relating to section and recommend suitable improvements. * People Management: Trains, motivates and supervises the quality of work and productivity of staff. * Risk & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with the company policies and procedures and external regulatory requirements. Qualifications & Requirements: Â * Holder of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. * Professional Accounting qualifications. * Minimum 4-6 years' experience in supervisory/managerial position with management reporting and regulatory exposure in a financial services organisation. * Possess expert knowledge in finance and Accounting. * Knowledge of insurance and re-insurance business & Markets is required. * Should have good command of written and verbal English commu (more...)
