EDUCATION: Completion of a formal program of professional nursing education recognized by Saudi Aramco Nursing Services Department and current licensure as a professional registered nurse. Bachelor s degree preferred. WORK EXPERIENCE: Five years clinical nursing experience post registration, to include two years in a specific clinical area, e.g., medical, surgical, obstetric, pediatric nursing. One of these years can be in SAMSO. OTHER: Fluent spoken and written English. Spoken Arabic desirable. Meets the additional requirements for Critical Care, Labor and Delivery and Emergency Nursing as defined in the addendum when hired for these special units. ADDENDUM: CRITICAL CARE: Two years current experience in appropriate critical care area, i.e., adult, pediatric, or neonatal. AND Completion of the corresponding critical care course. Additional years experience can be considered in lieu of formal course. EMERGENCY ROOM: Two years current experience in emergency room, trauma center, pre-hospital care setting, or critical care. AND Completion of a trauma, casualty, or critical care course. Additional years experience can be considered in lieu of formal course. LABOR AND DELIVERY: Completion of an approved midwifery program recognized by Saudi Aramco Nursing Services Department. Licensed/Certified to practice midwifery. Two years experience after completion of the midwifery program, in a labor and delivery setting in which nurse midwives routinely conduct normal deliveries. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all duties of the staff nurse plus the following: ASSESSMENT: Acts as resource to other staff members during the assessment of complex patient/family needs. Assists other staff members in improving their assessment skills, giving input when need is identified. PLANNING: A. Serves as direct care clinical resource in development and review of the patient s plan of care. IMPLEMENTATION/INTERVENTIONS: Provides total, direct nursing care to patients requiring advanced, skilled or complex care. Precepts new hires and mentors nursing staff with identified needs. Assists physicians with the more complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Performs procedures requiring advanced competency skills or training in the expanded nursing roles. EVALUATION: Acts as resource to other staff members during the evaluation of complex patients care. Evaluates the progress of new hires and gives input to the charge nurse and supervisor. PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS: Participates in the planning and presentation of unit inservices and patient care conferences. Evaluates patient care supplies/equipment and gives input to the charge nurse/supervisor. Serves as direct clinical resource in the development, review and revision of nursing policies and procedures, standards of care and applicable medical organization policies. Represents unit on committees, special interest groups and task forces. Creates opportunities to share knowledge and expertise in an informal and ongoing manner.
