POSITION DESCRIPTION: The appbrcant will be required to describe carbonate cores to define brthofacies, interpret the depositional layering and sequence stratigraphy of carbonate successions as a member of multidiscipbrnary exploration and development teams. Integration of brthofacies with biofacies for the recognition of high-resolution cycles in a sequence stratigraphic framework would be an essential component of the work. The appbrcant would be expected to proactively solve technical problems with state-of-the-art knowledge of process sedimentology, thin-section petrography and diagenesis to improve understanding carbonate reservoirs. Data acquisition from whole cores, plugs, cuttings and their integration with petrophysical data from open-hole logs to develop reservoir-scale models are essential parts of daily activity. The ultimate objectives of the work are to achieve an understanding of carbonate depositional environments, diagenesis, reservoir framework and assess their effect on reservoir quabrty. After hours and weekend operational work will be required at short notice. SELECTION CRITERIA: An M.Sc. or Ph.D. in carbonate sedimentology is preferred. Industrial experience of carbonate sedimentology as appbred to hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation is preferred. Experienced in description of carbonate cores and thin sections. Experienced in petrography and diagenesis. Work experience on carbonate hydrocarbon reservoirs in general. The skills to work in multi-discipbrne teams and communicate technical results effectively. An understanding of sedimentological controls on reservoir quabrty. Experienced in sequence stratigraphy and sedimentological modebrng on basin scale. Experience in appbrcation of stable isotapes, and XRD to solution of diagenetic problems. Apply SHL
