Job Code: ITD/08/002 Primary Purpose Of The Job This dynamic position requires an experienced individual to work with a team of senior network engineers in the design ,development and implementation of Qatar Petroleums Cisco based infrastructure to provide IP Telephony, Application load balancing, and SAN services. The successful candidate will play an integral role in maintaining and supporting deployed equipment for services stated above.
Job Responsibilities Play a leading role in the design, implementation, operation and management of networking equipment that provide application load balancing and SAN services. Play a supporting role in the design, implementation, operation and management of a Cisco based IP Telephony infrastructure. Self-learner, ensuring that technical skills remain current Designing tender technical evaluation criteria that will ensure maximum productivity benefits and cost savings to QP. Coordinate with other IT divisions and sections to deliver reliable IT services and solutions. Periodically act for the Network Head Engineer during his or her absence Major player in the execution and implementation of contracts and purchases for software/hardware and services Track and report progress on own projects and issues Follow established processes and workflows, and suggest enhancements as appropriate Adapts quickly to a dynamic environment dealing with virtual groups across various divisions/sections. Participate in technical interviews as part of staff recruitment Support the implementation of Qatari personnel career development plans Develop and continuously improve his individual competencies to enhance division performance and strengthen bonds with other sections/divisions. Provide technical leadership in area of specialization.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Bachelors degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineering or related discipline. Masters Degree is definitely an advantage. Cisco CCNP, CCIE certification is highly desirable. Cisco certification related to IP Telephony, SAN, and other advanced services will be given strong preference. Minimum 10 years of progressive overall experience in IT, including at least 5 years of direct design, implementation and operation of advanced IT networking services (Application load balancing, SAN, IP Telephony) at a senior level position. Advanced understanding and hands-on experience in design, implementation and operation of Storage Area Networking services based on Cisco MDS9000 Products. General working knowledge and understanding of application and storage servers. Advanced understanding and hands-on experience in design, implementation and operation of Application load balancing services based on Cisco CSS , and/or ACE products. An understanding of Cisco IP Telephony design and Architecture for Voice, Video, and Integrated Data (AVVID). Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in implementation of CoS/QoS on Cisco networking devices. Extensive knowledge of high availability network technologies and solutions to support IP convergence requirements. Good working knowledge of DNS and DHCP implementation, operation and management. Technical working knowledge of LAN and WAN layer 2 and layer 3 network design and implementation. Proven and successfully demonstrated Team leader skills Strong multi-project management skills Good people management skills Excellent written and verbal communications skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated, organized and time-management skills Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Strong working experience in using desktop applications as Lotus Notes, and Microsoft Office Professional suite of applications. Good understanding of telecommunication and IT related standards and systems specifications. The ability to work under stress and beyond office hours to meet projected deadlines and milestones.
